Finally someone with a little sense laying the smackdown.  This financial bailout is ridiculous considering there was no proposed auditing when they first decided to go along with this.

I gotta admit it feels good to see some common sense being used.  I mean c’mon.  People are so obsessed  with the new and cool and it really isn’t necessary.  I’m pretty sure people heard about this .  Its like ” man, are people crazy”.  How do you justify that kind of spending when your company is going under.  There people  should seriously be sent to as my good friend Michael Bolton from Office Space says ” Federal pound you in the ass Prison”.

At least Obama had the sense to stop this.  I hope this isn’t just a one time thing and people are seriously held accountable for some of this shit.

I’m obsessed with this album.  I dunno what it is, I love the sound.  First and foremost I think their singer has an amazing voice,  really soulful and bluesy.  Musically its a mix of new wave, indie, and classic rock imo.  Their first single, “sex on fire”, reminds me of Journey meets new wave.  I know it sounds weird, but it works.  Its performance on the radio proves that point.  Thier newest single “use somebody” is probably my favorite track atm.  Somewhere along the way the rock ballad got lost and I ithnk this is a great way to bring that back.  I also really like “Manhattan”, and “revelry”.  Actually there isn’t really a song I dislike so far.  I think they do a good job bringing back the synth keyboards, raspy vocals, and a big rock sound back into mainstream.

I know I’ve read at least a couple reviews where people are disappointed with the album.  Reviewers feel they took a safe route and didn’t really do anything innovative or wild like previous albums.  In my opinion I think these guys might have just found their sound.  I really disliked some of their previous album tracks.  People used to call them “the southern strokes” and i never got that cuz i love the strokes and some of the things the kings did on previous albums just seemed so wierd to me.  A little too “innovative” for my blood.  I remember one critic stating that this will probably bring the age group of their average listener up.  So what?  That’s a bad thing? Maybe I’m getting old and I like that kinda music better, but there aren’t really many “rock bands” out anymore.  Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver,  Buckcherry, and Queens are the only groups which come to mind atm so i think this is a welcome addition for me.

Anyhow I encourage everyone to give it a listen.  I know its not for everyone, but if you like it, it’ll probably be more on the ” i love this album” side like me than the “meh its ok” side.  Might be a little polarizing, but i always think its better to elicit emotion than to be middle of the road.

Anyhow regardless of the fact i thought the Cards just played better ball.  Eagles had plenty of chances and McNabb missed a ton of throws.  Even a couple completions could have gone for huge plays if he just put the ball where it should have been instead of behind.  Despite that they clawed back into the game and even.  I thought they really had it for a while when they took that lead.  But Ari did a good job on that last drive making a pair of 3rd down conversions and i think a 4th down convo as well.

Oh well, lets hope we get a good draft pick and hope for next year.  Time to chear on my Lakers. Go LAKERS!!!!

Sad day indeed.  I’ll admit i didn’t always listen to this, but it was an awesome station for what it was.   I remember hearing a lot of groups and or new stuff from big artists on here first.  One song i clearly remember was Foo Fighters- Pretender cuz my buddy Noel who’s a huge Foo Fighters head was in town  and I was like “check this out, this is the only place I’ve heard playing this song so far”.  Also, who knows how many Friday drives to work were spent listening to barely legal radio.

Guess what i’ll miss most will be the random times I’ll flip to it and hear a musician having their show and playing music I’d never hear anywhere else.  In particular Henry Rollins Tuesdays.  Man the guy would pull out some Cambodian folk music at times, but it was cool.  Indie always took a “play whatever you want” stance and that so refreshing at times in retrospect to the corporate “top 40 every hour on the hour” that is any clearchannel station.  Whether i was feeling it at the time or not, that freeedom was respected.  It introduced a lot of things I probably would have never heard to me and for that I’ll be grateful.

Lastly I know its not dead dead, but when you have these hour long commutes each way, being in the car is where I get most of my listening/thinking time.  It just won’t be as convenient and thats a damn shame.

Its kinda funny,  this morning I was browsing sites, talking to friends and just thought, “man i kinda wanna start a blog”  so methodical old me decides to try and figure out which site is best.  After asking like 10 pple and getting nothing i decided i wanted wither wordpress or blogger, cuz thats what i see.  Then i do the good old google search ” compare blog sites”  pretty much everythng said wordpress so here I am.

Guess thats all for now I’m probably gonna put up like 4 posts today alone.  I wanna divide them by topic.  I was thinking of starting like 3-4 different blogs.  1  for sports, 1 for food/dining, one for me, and a last one for hating.  My bff was just like start with 1 atm and work your way in slowly.  So here I am with my one.  May split them later but we’ll see.
